My folks and I have both been using dinosaurs for cell phones due to the fabulous contract (no monthly service – charge only for use). Just received one new phone (new Motorola) because of a switch from analog to digital. Both old units were Motorola and I had a lot of problems with battery drainage so never left it on (call out only). How do the batteries on the new phones work? I would really like to leave my phone on when I go shopping for my Mom so she can call and add things to the list. Thanks.

they are lithium ion which is great the reason your old phones bat didn’t work well was because it was old and after time they decrease in charge my Motorola battery lasts two days on stand by and one when i talk on it a lot

I have a motorola w755 cell phone that i dropped in the toilet. At first It didn’t work at all but now it works but there is no picure. It’s just a blank white screen but I can still make calls out and receive calls but obviously I need the screen to work at. Does this mean I just need a new battery?

Usually when a cell phone gets completely wet, you would need to replace the whole thing.

Full or Partial Discharging?You may have heard of the battery “memory effect,” which means that a battery will lose some of its power capacity if it is repeatedly only partially discharged before being recharged. Because of this, many people continue to use their cell phones until they die completely before returning them to the charger. For nickel-based batteries (an older technology), this is the way to go. Lithium ion batteries, however, do not suffer from the memory effect and will be damaged by full discharges. Recharge your lithium ion cell phone battery when its meter shows about one bar of power left.

Taking Good Care of Your BatteryWe take our cell phones with us everywhere, so they often end up going through some tough conditions. Obviously you want to avoid dropping your phone on hard surfaces and you need to keep it clean, but there are some other ways you can take care of your phone to protect your battery. One is to keep the battery from high temperatures. Don’t leave your phone in a hot car for long periods. Also avoid carrying your phone in your pocket, where your body temperature will heat up the battery. If your cell phone battery does get dirty, clean it carefully with cotton and rubbing alcohol, paying particular attention to the condition of the points of contact between the battery and the phone.
